After a storm, depending on how steep your roof is, it might be a good idea to make sure there aren’t large sticks and branches that may have fallen on your roof. If you find some, just pull them down safely, or if they are too large, call your local roofing company and see if they can help you remove the debris.
This is good to do periodically, normally about once or twice a year when you would normally get your gutters cleaned. This can be done using high pressure air or water and lightly spraying the top of your roof to make sure this debris doesn’t accumulate.
Sometimes, after 60-80 years of wear and tear, a metal roof will start to look like it needs to be replaced, but in most cases, it just needs a fresh coat of paint. This will allow the metal underneath to remain protected, become more durable and also continue to look great.
Please note, that there are cases where the metal roof is still in good condition, but the wood underneath may need to be replaced because of wood rot or termite damage. If that is the case, in most situations, your roofer will be able to lift up the affected panels, replace whatever wood, underlayment or insulation that needs to be replaced and then reinstall the same panels, allowing for a low cost, efficient repair.
